Project description:

One of the biggest environmental issues in Drina River basin (DRB) is formation of the floating waste and residues in its watercourses, while particular concern are large amount of floating debris and residues that accumulate in hydropower reservoirs.

The assignment of the Study is focused on long-term reduction of floating waste and debris; proposals for the long-term and sustainable management of the wastewater collection and treatment in DRB, and proposals for the long-term and sustainable management of solid waste in DRB. The most important sources of pollution by floating waste and debris are legal and illegal landfills for both municipal and industrial waste, mining areas and agricultural activities.

  • Current situation in the DRB with respect to water pollution with the focus on the floating waste and debris pollution
  • Framework for management of floating waste and debris pollution in the DRB:
  • Action Plan for the Management of Pollution from Floating Waste and Residues on Drina River basin and its sub-basins
